Inspiration for my sculptural pictures comes from the beautiful Arnside countryside. I love the light that glows through the trees, their gnarled trunks, the moss covered rocks and the tantalising glimpses of distant estuary and fells.
Each of my pictures are individually hand sculpted from wet fabric, either silk or cotton. The picture emerges as I sculpt the fabric, working with its natural folds and creases to represent the textures of wood, rock, and water.
Brusho dye powder is blown and painted on to the surface creating totally original patterns as it bleeds through the textile. I never know exactly what the fabric and dye will do until it dries, making each of my pictures completely unique.
