This artist will be running a workshop over the trail weekend, please visit the workshops page for details and to pre-book your place.

Since completing a BA Hons Degree in embroidery from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2000, Christine Stanford’s work has been exhibited extensively throughout the UK.

It involves researching into social history using the archives of Museums and information from old books and magazines, with a focus on looking into issues about women and their working and home lives. Using a range of techniques which involve layering papers, fabrics and images then trapping them with wax. The materials are embellished with free machine embroidery, lace or ribbons, buttons and beads to create a rich mix of influences from the past.

Christine is an established qualified teacher and workshop leader, teaching at local Schools and Colleges and has worked on community projects with the Dukes Theatre, Lancaster, Lakes Alive Kendal, the Harris Museum and Art Gallery and currently at the Hat Works in Stockport with ProjectInc.
