Self-taught through my love of textiles, design, and embroidery. I have developed my own skills in textile art, taking inspiration from nature and Entomology. I was brought up and live in Arnside and continue to find inspiration from the beauty of my area.
I specialize in the study of insects, depicting tinny insects in enlarged forms, so others can see the true beauty and personality of each creature. My goal as an artist is to showcase the diversity and beauty of entomology from all around the world, from the endangered corroboree frog in Australia to the humble bumble bee. I combine traditional hand embroidery stitches with modern materials, using a variety of techniques including, dyeing, wire work, beading and braiding.
