Art Trail, 24th 25th 26th June 2011

Silverdale Community Sculpture

Workshop at St John's School, Silverdale.

In 2008 Ruth Livesey launched the first Community Sculpture.

Although the firing was not very successful, the event was very enjoyable and the positive feedback from visitors was heart-warming, of older age groups, with comments such as "I've always wanted to feel what clay felt like".

The public's reaction has motivated Ruth to continue the event annually.

In 2009 the firing process was improved and the successful sculpture was unveiled at the 2010 weekend.

In 2010 Ruth decided to invite people to bring something small to the art trail
that was either a personal memento or something of significance to the
area.
Impressions of these items were made into individual tablets of clay by the visitors.
All the tablets were then fired and are going to be constructed into a whole and unveiled at the 2011 trail.
