I think of myself as a mixed media artist. My work has evolved over the years from being predominantly textile in the widest sense of the word. The handmade books followed on from this and then finally, in 2012 I fulfilled a long held ambition and bought an etching press. Courses at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal with the very inspiring Iain Sloan followed and printing became an important part of my work.

I make a variety of handmade blank books for use as sketchbooks or journals. These usually feature one of my original prints on the cover or in the case of the concertina books are made from the print itself.

I also use recycled type cases for which I take an old book and cut it up and re-stitch it to fill all the compartments of the case. I like the way the books can still be read in a fragmentary manner as I do strive to keep the pages in the right order.
