Born in Cumbria, I have lived and worked worldwide. After a career in teaching and research, I retrained in Art Psychotherapy. I am interested in the many ways in which making and responding to art can contribute to a sense of wellbeing.
My creativity finds varied expression in drawing, painting, sculpture and writing. My artwork is very much inspired by the natural world, from small organic forms, to dramatic sea and skyscapes. I use a range of media but particularly enjoy the rich colours and textures of oil paints and pastels. Sometimes I combine art and poetry. During the first Covid lockdown (shielding, away from home, with few art materials) I had fun creating collage greetings cards for friends and family, from muesli boxes and magazine cuttings!
I have exhibited at local galleries, including Brantwood, and in London, with the Pastel Society and the Society of Botanical Artists. Now living in Arnside, I look forward to sharing drawings, paintings and possibly a few small soapstone sculptures, on this year’s Art Trail.
