Painting and drawing ever since i could hold a pencil, I have exhibited in many places and societies in Manchester area and the South, including the Royal Academy, Bankside Gallery and other mixed exhibitions. Now based in Cumbria I have work in OCG gallery in Ambleside, Upfront and have had individual shows at Brantwood, Farfield Mill and the Brewery Arts Centre. Originally one of the La-al gallery group as well. I am a member of Green Door Artists and Kendal Art Society.
I love painting and being immersed in the landscape. The moors, mountains and the harsher more elemental landscapes are always a draw for me. the sea and shores, the glitter of water and the banding in estuaries, as well as the dark reflections in a still pool or canal have been so much in my area of interest.
Corvid, isolation and depression caused by the situation and difficulty of reaching my areas of interest were a great blow to me. For months i suffered “painters” block. I couldnt work, this essential part of my life was dammed up.
Able to paint again now, i find myself using a more free approach, and relishing the qualities of paint and colour and the freedom to be in the landscape again.
