As a child I could always be found drawing and painting, this interest continued throughout my life until in 1993, encouraged by my husband,I gave up my job to become a full time artist. I set up a small studio gallery painting pet portraits from photographs, I accept commissions of all types including portraits of children, houses, cars and have completed many childrens murals and trompe l'oeil.
My recent move to the Studio at the Wolfhouse Gallery in Silverdale is the start of another chapter. This area is very special and inspires me greatly. I intend to continue painting animals, but also develop other techniques to try and capture this unique and beautiful area in my own way.
My preferred medium is soft pastel which I find is perfect for my subject matter. The finish of pastel gives an extremely life like effect and is excellent for depicting fur, flesh or feathers. By contrast, shiny metal, water or stonework can all be portrayed effectively using this wonderfully versatile medium. I am also developing work in arylics on canvas.
I have had several successful exhibitions in recent years and my paintings can be found in private collections all over Great Britain, Europe and America and a selection can also be viewed on the internet at www.minigalleryworld.com/JaniceMcGloine/
