Kate Bentley

Kate originally trained in Sculpture, graduating from Sheffield in 1986.She then followed a career in theatre-design and as a freelance designer. In the 1990’s Kate made a shift to painting as her primary media and in 1999 made the decision to paint on a full-time basis.

Kate currently

     -  Lectures in higher and adult education and demonstrates to art societies  -  Runs private painting workshops in Cumbria and Lancashire and teaches     abroad with the painting holiday specialist Andalucian Adventures
     -  Undergoes Artist in Residence programmes within schools
     -  Works with Garden Designers and commissions for willow                  structures/sculptures-

She is an associate member of the Green Door Studios, based in Kendal and is also a founder member of the "Silverdale Seven" Artists Group.

Kate has exhibited for three years in a row at the the Mall Galleries in London for the Society of Women Artists.This year Kate s work has been selected by the society for consideration for membership. In Autumn 2007 Kate will be showing her work at the Affordable Art Fair in London .

She has also exhibited at The Royal Birmingham Society of Arts and has won the regional final of Granada Televisions celebrity portrait competition-painting celebrities such as Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson OBE, MBE, Eammon Holmes and Denise Robertson MBE. She paints predominately in watercolours and oils. Her particular passion is working from the figure and from real-life. However her most recent body of work under development is working from the imagination, so watch this space!
