Silverdale Art and Craft Trail Website “About Us”
Silverdale Art and Craft Trail was set up in 2005 in order to celebrate and showcase the creative life of our village. Each year between 15 and 20 mainly professional artists and craftspeople exhibit or open their studios and workshops. At the local primary school there are hands on workshops and demonstrations, including a Raku firing, felt making and woodturning, while at Spring Bank Bed and Breakfast at least 3 guest artists/crafts people from outside the village exhibit.
The R.S.P.B Leighton Moss nature reserve visitor centre http://www.rspb.org.uk/reserves/guide/l/leightonmoss/index.asp houses a sample of each exhibitors’ work to help people plan their tour.
This marvellous event allows people a unique insight into the working lives of a hugely diverse group of artists and craftspeople who live or work in our beautiful coastal village as well as the opportunity to buy at what is often a reduced cost.
Illustrated colour ArtTrail catalogues are available from Silverdale News in the village centre, price £1, during and before the weekend. They are also available from the R.S.P.B. Centre and from participating artists.
The Trail continues to grow and develop every year, with new attractions and different artists’ work to see. There are ample opportunities to take food stops – The Silverdale Hotel, the Royal Hotel, Leighton Moss, Wolf House Gallery, Kayes Garden Centre, Waterslack Garden Centre – or refreshment stops at the Woodlands Pub, Silverdale News and at Spring Bank House. Toilets are also available at Leighton Moss, the school and in the centre of the village (See map).
It’s a great day out for the whole family!
Silverdale Art and Craft Trail gratefully acknowledges financial assistance from Holgates and Wine Time.
