Jayne specialises in drawings and illustrations depicting livestock and rural wildlife. Sketching from life and observation of the animals in their natural environment is essential to her work and this is combined with larger scale studio creations where she uses a variety of media, predominantly pen and ink with watercolour and pastel. Jayne spent her childhood on a Cumbrian dairy farm and now finds her inspiration within the farming and countryside environment. The use of bold, flowing line, capturing the essence of the subject is the hallmark of her work. Whether sketching pedigree livestock or native wildlife, simplicity, motion and energy are portrayed in her unique and impressionistic style.

Jayne has participated in community artworks, including painting a large scale mural of the Lakeland Fells overlooking Ullswater for the Outward Bound Trust and painting a sheep for the Go Herdwick Art Trail in aid of the Calvert Trust.

Jayne regularly runs workshops for local art groups and teaches evening classes for Lancaster and Morecambe College.
