I’m Louise Ellwood Parker, a wildlife artist and illustrator.
I mainly paint birds and am hugely inspired and fascinated by these delicate yet remarkably sturdy creatures.
From my studio, a converted vintage caravan, I create artworks using acrylic paint and ink.
I often paint, not just on paper, but also on vintage timber and driftwood.
The environmental impact of the materials I use is a big consideration of my work.
I especially enjoy re-purposing materials that have previously had a life as something else.
Texture is an important element of my work.
Layering up the feathers, I paint instinctively, adding flowing lines to create movement.
My birds must have life and personality and through my unique style I am able to depict the characteristics of each species.
i feel it is so important to draw attention to the dramatic decline of bird life and hope my work, in a small way, encourages you to notice these beautiful creatures as characterful and unique individuals.
