Val trained at St Albans College of Art and Design and at the University of Hertfordshire where she studied art and design and photography.
In February this year, Val opened Spindrift Gallery on Arnside Promenade where she displays her paintings and photographs. Her paintings exude the joy and energy she derives from the sea, birds and flowers, through the use of rhythm, texture, form and vibrancy of colour. Her photographs capture the various moods of Morecambe Bay and the Lake District.
Val’s paintings can be found in collections in:
Texas (USA), Sydney (Australia), Portugal, Dublin, Cumbria, Cheshire, Hertfordshire, Lancashire and Peterborough. She has also sold her work at a number of exhibitions including Milnthorpe and The Lake Artists Society at Grasmere.
