Val Winterbottom

Paintings, photographs and photocards

Val's paintings focus mainly on water in its many forms and moods, from rough seas to tranquil lakes at sunset. She uses many media (including mixed media) but has come to appreciate the textural qualities of acrylics.

Val has held solo exhibitions at Spindrift Gallery in Arnside and last year she was given a solo exhibition at The Heron Theatre, Beetham. She has also sold work at The Lakes Artists Exhibition at Grasmere and The Milnthorpe Art Exhibition.

Her paintings can be found in collections in Sydney, Dublin, Edinburgh and Hertfordshire.

Val took the Access Course in Art & Design at St Albans College of Art Design before progressing to the degree course at The University of Hertfordshire.

Val also produces photographs of Arnside and The Lake District. Last year she won a place in the "Coast" exhibition organised by The Lancaster Maritime Museum. Her photograph is currently included in the museum's touring exhibition.
